Established from the peripheral blood of a 50-year-old man with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (large granular lymphocytic) in 1992. Cells were described as having azurophilic granula and strong cytotoxic NK activity. Parts of the EBV genome can be detected by PCR analysis. According to the general statement of the ZKBS on the risk assessment of established human cell lines immortalised with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) (ref. 402.45244.0046, May 2012), these were briefly assigned to risk group 2 as a precaution. In the meantime, the results of a lymphocyte transformation test have been submitted. DSMZ no.: ACC 488 PCR: EBV +, HBV -, HCV -, HIV -, HTLV-I/II -, SMRV -
