With this database you have the opportunity to inform yourself about cellular and viral genes/nucleic acids that have been assessed by the ZKBS or its office in regard to their oncogeneic potential. This list is continuously updated.

The oncogenic potential of genes/nucleic acids is assessed based on the following criteria:
  • genes/nucleic acids of oncogenic viruses which are shown to be responsible for the oncogenic transformation,
  • genes/nucleic acids which are shown to be essential for the development of human tumours,
  • genes/nucleic acids which are shown to be responsible for the transformation of mammalian cell cultures,
  • genes/nucleic acids which are shown to cause tumours in animal models.
